Foundry Fest

Posted on September 11th, 2008 by Christian

Last weekend a couple friends and I all headed down to Joplin, Missouri for Foundry Fest.  We got an early start since the fest was an all day event and Joplin is 3 hours from Kansas City.  About an hour into our drive we started hearing a crazy flapping noise.  We weren’t sure if we had blown a tire, somehow forgot Scott Howard van surfing or something much worse.

Okay, well it turns out it was none of those things.  The rubber seal around the windshield was coming loose and flapping in the wind.  No one was injured but it was really annoying so we pulled over at the nearest gas station.

Yeah, I don’t get it either.

For some people it’s coffee and cigarettes but for Ryan Beye it’s mostly chocolate milk and cigarettes.

Hetu needed to cool off a little.

Overpriced country gas station duct tape fixes everything, right?

Wrong.

We got down to The Foundry in one piece and got everything set up pretty quick.  Took a minute to get to know some new friends a little better.

Leroy and a friend, I told you I’d put it up.. I’m sure I also said I’m terrible with names.  If this is you email me.

Caught my buddy Grant of A Sleepless Legacy rockin our Worth Fighting For piece.

Back out to make some sales, meet some new friends, and catch some sun before the summer is over.

Hetu got a good picture of the Trifecta.  Arthur on the far right plays bass in a band, you may have heard of them.  Living Sacrifice.  TJ there in the middle, bass player from War of Ages.  Last but not least Ryan Beye, bass player of Dead Set?

Say Hello to Boots.

The competent staff.  Hetu, you were right.

TJ, doing his thing.

The mighty Living Sacrifice.

Well worth the drive.

What good show wouldn’t be complete without a huge group shot.  Kids came from Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Kansas.  Hope you guys had as much fun as we did.

Something Stinks

Posted on August 20th, 2008 by Christian

While filling up at the gas station today I noticed an interesting advertisement.

I was able to snap a fairly poor quality picture with my camera phone. Don’t worry, I did you the favor of removing any information that would have told you who is responsible for this. Maybe you’re asking, ‘What’s the issue?’ Well, my issue is that both of our major candidates for president have flipped and or flopped on the issue of off-shore drilling. Both of the candidates said they were against it at one point. That alone is enough to make me roll my eyes but wait there’s more. Expert after expert keep saying off-shore drilling is going to make little to no impact over the next two presidential terms.

The picture is touching on a different subject though. When I was a kid I used to love magic tricks, okay.. so I still love magic tricks, but there’s a common action called misdirection. That junk is misdirection. An attempt to make you think about anything but the fact that those oil companies are raking in record profits. Why not blame the credit companies though..

I’ll get off of my high horse now, figuratively speaking. We don’t have horses and I’m allergic. If I had one though maybe I could avoid these gas prices.

Start Today

Welcome to our new website. It’s been a long time in the works and a lot of bumps in the road but we’re here. This summer has been a great one, I just can’t believe, maybe don’t want to believe, it’s almost over. We’ve gotten to see a lot of old friends as well as make a lot of new ones.

We spent a week in early July out in the wilderness… otherwise known as Cornerstone. We haven’t gone to Cornerstone in a couple of years so we were overdue for the trip. The fest was probably 20 degrees cooler than I ever remember. The phrase “I can’t believe it’s this nice!” replaced the usual phrase -  “Ugh.. I want to go home.” Definitely a pleasant surprise. The picture is of some of our friends in The Red Baron. They had taken a year off but now they’re back and better than ever. I think that the crowds for their shows made it clear that kids are glad they’re back. Notice Chase wearing the lemon chuck shirt on the far left.

Take a look around the new site, leave us a comment, or maybe even pick up something from the store..
